The Diversity Council held the 6th Diversity Workshop at Seoul National University Asia Center, Youngwon Hall from 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 22. The Diversity Workshop invites appointed diversity delegates from 44 institutions every December to introduce the Diversity Council’s activities and present best practices where diversity had successfully been promoted at each institution. Two institutions are selected as best practices based on the presentation. Approximately 80 people participated in the sixth Diversity Workshop which was held in conjunction with the year-end party.
Firstly, Chairman Changhoo Chun introduced all the participants one by one with a greeting, followed by the presentation of the Diversity Council’s main activity this year. Next, the Vice Chairwoman Youkyung Son summarized and presented effective case studies in 23 institutions, and selected the College of Humanities University and the Office of International Affairs as the leading institutions to promote diversity. Diversity delegates from the two institutions presented their efforts to promote diversity for five minutes respectively, and received small gift certificates as an award.
Finally, a time was spared to reflect on the needs and suggestions of the participants to the Diversity Council. Above all, the participants emphasized the need to further promote the activities of the Diversity Council throughout and beyond the university level. Also, the participants suggested the Diversity Council to actively discover and propose new policies to SNU system. The workshop ended at 2:50 p.m., after the raffle gift certificates were awarded to 12 people. A bottle of wine was provided to all participants, instead of a meal.
