The Diversity Council held its first full council meeting this year on March 20, 2019, in the Maple Room of Hoam Faculty House. Full council meetings are held once every quarter. All members of the Diversity Council are debriefed on activities of the Council over the past three months, and then they discuss activity plans and issues requiring policy improvements.
The president of SNU, Se-Jung Oh, attended the meeting and stressed the importance of maintaining and developing diversity on campus as he discussed the public nature of SNU. He encouraged the council members and promised that he will continue to support the work of the Council. Professor Kangjae Lee (Chinese Language and Literature) who was in charge of planning research tasks of the Diversity Council in the second half of 2018 briefly presented the results of the study titled "The Current Status and Issues with Non-Tenure Track Faculty and Researchers at SNU," and proposed measures to improve the system for supporting SNU's non-tenure-track faculty and researchers prior to the enforcement of the law protecting lecturers. Council members reviewed the reports on settlement of accounts for 2018 and major action plans for 2019. In particular, on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the Diversity Council, council members reexamined the role and direction of the Diversity Council and agreed that the culture of diversity should be expanded and that there should be wider publicity.
