In honor of World Day for Cultural Diversity (May 21st), the Diversity Council is again partnering with the university library to hold “Reading Diversity”, a diversity book exhibition and author readings event. In order to choose the diversity-related books to be included in the exhibition, we are holding a recommendation contest—and we hope you will participate!
★ Submission period: Monday, March 22nd through midnight on Sunday, April 11th, 2021
★ Eligible participants: Anyone with a mySNU Portal ID (all students, including those on leave and degree candidates, faculty, staff, etc.)
★ Details: To enter, write a recommendation for a diversity-related book and post it to the Diversity Council’s website on the “Events” notice board (look for the pop-up on the homepage). We consider diversity-related books to include not just those about minorities; all books that enable a deeper understanding of the diverse people that live in this world will be acceptable. Your recommendation should include your personal thoughts about the book and why you are recommending it, and be between 300 and 400 words long. One entry is permitted per person, and we will check for plagiarism. Examples of recommendations can be found in the “Archives” page (under the “Resources” tab) of the Diversity Council’s website. Some of the books from selected recommendations will be displayed in the “Reading Diversity” exhibition in the university library’s second-floor book café in May 2021, and the recommendations will be available publicly in the “Archives” page of the Diversity Council’s website.
★ Prizes: The top five winners will receive a pair of AirPods, while the next top forty winners will receive a 30,000-won mobile gift certificate to Kyobo Bookstore. Prizewinners will be notified individually.
