The “SNU Diversity Report 2017” used the people classification system pioneered by the 2016 report to provide updated figures on diversity among the members of the SNU community and examined the university’s support for academic and living activities. In addition, a special section analyzed the progress of internationalization at SNU and made short- and long-term policy recommendations to improve it. As in the previous year, the report provided statistics on the diversity ratio among tenure-track faculty in every department, and discussed departments with no female tenure-track faculty or in which the number of such faculty had changed. It also found that the representation of female faculty in the university’s major committees had improved slightly since 2016, but that there was still a serious imbalance in favor of men, Finally, the report described the programs offered by the university’s main administration, affiliated campus facilities, and colleges to the support the skills development and improve the living conditions of its faculty, staff and students.
