The 3rd Diversity Workshop (Workshop for Diversity Representatives)
The third workshop for diversity representatives, held on Dec. 19, 2018 at Hoam Faculty House’s Marronnier Hall, was truly an SNU diversity workshop, as it included several special guests who were not diversity representatives but with whom the council had made connections over the years. The more than 70 participants listened to reports on the council’s activities and presented on their institutions’ own activities to promote diversity; it was an opportunity to celebrate each other’s hard work over the past year.
Diversity Council chair Ki-Sun Hong presented on the council’s yearly Diversity Report, policy research and forums, policy recommendations, the SNU Diversity Pioneers Challenge, and other activities to promote communication among the members of the university community. Then, representatives from the SNU Residence Halls, the Office of International Affairs (OIA), the College of Natural Sciences, the School of Dentistry, the School of Law, and the Center for Campus Life and Culture shared stories of their institution’s efforts to promote diversity. At noon, the members of the diversity council joined the group for lunch. A prize lottery was held during the meal to celebrate the end of the year, and twenty of the event’s participants received gift certificates.
Finally, the council held its fourth full-membership meeting of the year, enabling its members and the diversity representatives to get to know each other. In this cordial atmosphere, the day’s events ended with an appeal to the participants to continue to support the council’s activities in the coming year.
