- Participants: 5 SNU Diversity Council members, 2 Research Team members, 5 international faculty members (David Wright [College of Humanities], Joy Kim [College of Natural Sciences], Otto van Koert [College of Natural Sciences], Sonya N. Martin [College of Education], Bernhard Egger [College of Engineering])
- Goals: Understand major issues facing international faculty and, on this basis, seek measures to improve faculty diversity. Build cooperative relationships by networking with international faculty.
Meeting Contents
- Support Measures for International People at SNU
- Korean language education support system needed for international students/faculty
- Faculty/staff training needed to improve domestic faculty’s/staff’s awareness of diversity
- Should expand current “SNU Buddy” program for Exchange Students to be open to all international students
- Should form an SNU Diversity Council advisory panel made up of international faculty
- Post-Meeting Proposal Submitted by Participants
- Increased awareness of micro-aggressions directed toward international people needed
- Should expand research support, housing support, international faculty’s participation in decision-making structures, etc.
- Increased translation of administrative documents into English needed to improve international people’s access to information
