The SNU Diversity Council held its first workshop for diversity representatives on Dec. 14, 2016 in the Asia Center’s Youngwon Hall. In the previous October, 38 campus bodies including colleges, graduate schools, administrative bodies, and facilities had appointed two diversity representatives (one associate dean or senior official and one staff member) each. The representatives will work with the council to produce statistics on diversity in the university’s demographics and organizations, conduct diversity-related policy research, and engage in educational and promotional activities to spread the value of diversity.

At the workshop, the diversity representatives were familiarized with the council’s activities and the diversity survey that it will conduct for the first time in January 2017, and learned their suggested role in supporting these efforts. The representatives were also encouraged to participate in the publication of the planned yearly diversity report, which will publicize successful diversity promotion activities at SNU and make policy suggestions to improve its systems.
