The 4th Diversity Workshop took place at the very end of 2019, on December 18th, at Marronnier Hall in Hoam Faculty House. The Diversity Council holds the workshop every year in December in order to share stories of diversity promotion on campus with and gather feedback from appointed diversity representatives from 42 SNU bodies. This year’s event, which lasted for an hour and 40 minutes and was also a kind of end-of-the-year party, was attended by 70 people, including diversity representatives, Diversity Council members, and special guests who had assisted the council in the past year.
Host and Diversity Council chair Ki-Sun Hong presided over presentations by around 20 different university bodies, including the council itself, on their diversity promotion efforts over the past year. Two of the bodies were then chosen to receive pre-prepared gift certificates. These were the College of Engineering, for collaborating with six Asian universities to put on “The Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop”, a meaningful event that combined issues related to women, non-tenure-track faculty/researchers, STEM fields, and internationalization; and the Central Library, for carrying out multifaceted improvements to make its facilities more accessible to people with disabilities, holding a colorful variety of cultural events, and making efforts to collaborate with other university bodies. The workshop ended with a fun lottery event in which 10 participants were chosen to receive gift certificates.
