The annual “Human Rights School” program for SNU Student Association officers and representatives, held for the fourth time on January 24th, 2019, had a new component this year: diversity education. Diversity Council expert coordinator Yookyung Bae attended to introduce the meaning of diversity at the university and policy issues related to it, cases of diversity policies at overseas universities, and the role and three-year history of the SNU Diversity Council. For the last part of her one-hour session, she listened to some of the participants’ wishes regarding the council and urged them to take an interest in its new internship program, open contests, and other activities for students.
In addition to Dr. Bae’s lecture, the eight-hour program conducted by the SNU Human Rights Center included education on the human rights and gender equality sensitivity that the campus community needs, a human rights workshop, and training on dealing with incidents related to these topics. The participants, more than 20 officers and representatives of campus organizations such as the SNU Student Association and student clubs, were each awarded a certificate upon completion.
