​The SNU Diversity Climate Survey forum was held on Dec. 13, 2016 in the Asia Center’s Youngwon Hall. The survey discussed at the forum had been conducted online from Sept. 26 to Oct. 25, and it targeted all members of the SNU community. Its lead researcher was Professor Lim Hae Ran, a member of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the director of the Institute for Gender Research. At the forum, Professor Lim discussed the meaning of diversity and the necessity of diversity climate surveys, while Diversity Council Senior Expert Coordinator Yookyung Bae outlined the characteristics of university diversity indicators and climate surveys.

Professor Kim Seok-ho of the Department of Sociology, who was responsible for the execution of the survey, introduced its design and methods and presented the results of its analysis organized into five topic areas. The research team analyzed participants’ ratings of the importance of and their satisfaction with the five areas and suggested reasons for the experiences of discrimination reported. The team intends to present policy proposals based on these analyses in its forthcoming report, which is expected to become a valuable resource in the promotion and protection of diversity at SNU.
