The team responsible for the Diversity Council research project “Internationalization of SNU: Quo Vadis? Sustainable Integration of International Faculty” presented the results of the online survey it had administered to SNU’s international faculty and staff the previous May, and a panel of experts from in- and outside of SNU offered their feedback. Not only international faculty but a variety of members of the SNU community attended the forum and participated enthusiastically.

The project’s lead researcher, Professor Bernhard Egger of the College of Engineering, first examined diversity at the university through its statistical yearbook and then analyzed the results of the survey and the contents of voluntary follow-up interviews. On the basis of these results, he made several policy suggestions for promoting faculty diversity and improving internationalization at SNU. Professor Hilary Finchum-Sung of the College of Music, Professor David Wright of the College of Humanities, College of Humanities Professor and Vice President of International Affairs Jihyeon Ahn, College of Engineering Office of International Affairs official Heesun Kim, and Professor Paul Tonks of Yonsei University’s Underwood International College then spoke as panelists, after which many attendees asked questions from the floor.
