Introduction of the SNU Diversity Council at the Fall 2018 OIA Welcome Party for New International Faculty 

Each semester, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) holds a welcome party for new international faculty. This semester, the event welcomed professors Asghar Zaidi (Dept. of Social Welfare) and PerMagnus Lindborg (Dept. of Composition) to the SNU community. SNU Diversity council chair Ki-Sun Hong and council staff attended the Oct. 2 event, held in the OIA’s lobby, to introduce the council’s activities and greet the two new faculty members as well as returning international faculty members. 

SNU must make efforts to achieve true internationalization, and this process requires the active participation of its international faculty members. The university should use a variety of approaches to attract excellent scholars regardless of nationality and offer more customized support to international faculty post-hiring to enable them to focus on teaching and research.
